Ever After Perspective Book Review Policy

There’s just not enough time in the world to review all the books that I go through each month. With the little amount of time I have, the guidelines below should give you a good idea of the types of books and genres I am reviewing on EVP.

Items I am interested in:

  • ARC
  • Galley
  • Finished Copy

Format I can accept:

  • Hard copy
  • E-book

*Though I am accepting e-books, I’ve noticed that I’m much more engaged when I read hard copies. I guess I’m old fashioned in that way…

Genres I will accept:

  • Young adult (Fantasy, high fantasy, paranormal)
  • New adult (Fantasy, high fantasy, paranormal)

*What I like: I love romance but I prefer that there be a fantasy/high fantasy/paranormal component as well.  Some of these examples include: The Demon King, Throne of Glass and Name of the Wind—although this one is considered adult and Unearthly. I love adventures, witty dialogue, love triangles and strong writing.

  • Example of high fantasy/fantasy books I love: The Demon King, Throne of Glass
  • Example of fantasy books I love: The Infernal Devices, Angelfall, Covenant series, Under the Never Sky
  • Example of Paranormal books I love: Vampire Academy

*What I don’t like: Insta-romance, heroines who try too hard to overcome gender differences (I’m all for equality, but keep it subtle and real), and too-simple plots.

What I don’t accept (due to time constraints):

  • Young Adult Contemporary
  • Children/Middle School
  • Self-Published books

Pitch it like you mean it!

Tell me why the book you’re pitching is so amazing and why you think it’s a fit for EVP! You can reach out to me at everafterpersective(at)gmail(dot)com and I’ll try to respond as soon as I can whether or not I’m interested.

Grateful!

I’m always honored when authors and publishers reach out to me to review their work regardless of whether or not I have the time. If I’ve built a relationship with you, I’ll try my best to make the time. That said, I might not always get to it in a timely manner and if a book just isn’t working for me, I can’t guarantee a review. If a find a novel that is absolutely out-of-this-world (or the complete opposite) and I’m bursting to share my thoughts, then it might take precedence over previous books I may have already committed to. So please, whatever happens, keep your chin up and keep on writing! I’ll try to get to it when and if I can.

All reviews are based on my personal views and honest opinion. Whether good or bad, I’ll always try to be fair. I want to write a book one day too so I know how scary it might be to receive a bad review. My reviews generally run as follows:

  • Selected photo that reminds me of a theme or scene from the book
  • Quick update on me and/or brief overview of running themes I enjoy
  • Summary of book pulled from either Amazon or Goodreads
  • Image of book cover
  • Full review
  • Rating
  • Recommended music theme
  • Photo disclaimer
